Founded by the parish, built with the community
Buyinja Butoole Rehabilitation Centre is a registered community-based organisation established in 2018 by the Catholic Church administration of Buyinja Butoole Catholic Parish.
Our mission
The Centre was established purposely to offer education, social welfare, healthcare and development services to the poor, and to the children and youth of our parish. That founding purpose still shapes every programme we run today.
Vocational training — in tailoring and design, carpentry and joinery, welding and metalwork, weaving, and computer studies — gives young people from the parish a practical route to employment or self-employment. Around that core, we support education, child and youth welfare, women and youth empowerment, healthcare, environmental studies, conservation education focused on the shoebill and the wider wildlife of our region, and community sensitization on rights and the protection of vulnerable people.
We are a small organisation working within real constraints — training equipment and materials are not always enough for the number of trainees who want to learn. We are honest about that, and it is part of why community support matters to us.
Leadership
Three commitments behind every programme
Dignity through skill
Every trainee leaves with a trade, not a handout — training built around what the local economy can actually employ.
Education alongside welfare
Schooling, welfare and healthcare support work together, because a family rarely needs just one of them at a time.
Stewardship of our wetlands
Conservation education, including for the shoebill, sits next to our social programmes — the land and the people are one responsibility.
